Commission — 8%, baked into the price
SwapSlabs charges an 8% commission on every sale and every swap. It is built into the displayed price, not shown to the buyer as a separate fee. A seller who wants to net a given amount lists at that amount divided by 0.92 (for example, to net $100.00 you list at about $108.70).
On a swap, the commission is 8% of the greater of the two sides' total value, snapshotted when both parties accept.
Ungraded (raw) cards pay 10% instead of 8%, and can be sold but not swapped. To net $100.00 on an ungraded card you list at about $111.11. The extra 2% covers the AI condition check and the added review work.
Payment processing — itemized on top
Standard payment processing of approximately 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction is itemized at checkout and added on top of the displayed price. SwapSlabs passes this through rather than absorbing it into the 8%. On a swap, processing applies to any cash top-up and to the fees charged.
Shipping and packaging
Under the Tier 1 program, the member who ships buys card-safe packaging through SwapSlabs (a packaging fee) and pays a shipping fee equal to the carrier rate SwapSlabs is billed plus a small markup. Insurance is added above a declared-value threshold, and shipments above $750 declared value add a signature fee. See the Shipping Policy at /shipping-policy for the full breakdown.
Worked example
The table below is generated live from SwapSlabs's pricing logic for a card displayed at $108.70. Numbers are illustrative; your transaction's shipping and packaging fees depend on the options you choose.
| Buyer side | |
|---|---|
| Displayed price (8% commission already inside) | $108.70 |
| Payment processing (our processor's card fee, passed through at cost) | + $3.56 |
| Buyer pays | $112.26 |
| Seller side | |
| Displayed price | $108.70 |
| $wapSlabs commission (8% of displayed price, $1 minimum) | − $8.70 |
| Seller receives (before shipping) | $100.00 |
| Shipping (Tier 1) | |
| Card-safe packaging fee | $3.99 |
| Shipping (carrier rate + small markup) | $7.05 |
| Charged to whoever ships | $11.04 |
On a swap, commission is 8% of the greater side’s total value; shipping applies per direction. Shipments above $1,000 declared value add a signature fee.
Refunds, reversals, and chargebacks
If a seller refunds an order before it ships, the commission and processing tied to that order are reversed with it. For a partial refund, the commission is reduced proportionally; the fixed part of the processing fee ($0.30) is generally not returned by the processor and is not refunded by SwapSlabs. Shipping and packaging fees are refundable only if the label has not been generated.
A Guarantee charge (see /guarantee) is separate from these fees and is not a refund of them. If you file a bank chargeback and have already been made whole through a refund or a Guarantee reimbursement, SwapSlabs may recover the duplicate amount from your card on file or offset it against funds owed to you.
Taxes and 1099-K reporting
Where SwapSlabs is required to act as a marketplace facilitator, it calculates, collects, and remits applicable US sales tax on transactions; that tax is shown at checkout and is not a SwapSlabs fee. You remain responsible for any other taxes on your own activity, including income tax on your sales and swaps.
SwapSlabs reports qualifying seller proceeds to tax authorities where the law requires, including on IRS Form 1099-K, and may ask sellers for a taxpayer identification number to do so. SwapSlabs does not give tax advice — talk to a tax professional about your situation.
When fees apply
Commission and processing are charged when a sale is paid or a swap is accepted. Shipping and packaging fees are charged when the shipment is arranged. Fees are generally non-refundable once a transaction completes, except where required by law or expressly stated.
